June Results:  Ford Motor Co. will cease production of its 72-year-old Mercury brand by the end of 2010 after years of declining sales. Mercury's death is the latest in a string of casualties as Detroit carmakers try to cut costs and invest more heavily in fewer offerings. By shedding a mid-range brand that was more and more irrelevant to buyers, the automaker can focus on accelerating sales of Ford and beefing up its luxury Lincoln brand. How do you feel about the death of the Mercury brand?

 52%     It is about time. Should have happened sometime ago.

34%     Perfect timing. An expanded Lincoln lineup should flourish.

14%    Just a sign of the times.  Another once proud brand meeting its doom.

 

May Results: Ford, Toyota, Hyundai and Chrysler each boosted U.S. sales by about 25 percent in April as demand continued to recover from last year's collapse. Is this a sign of things to come?

April Results:  Does Geely's $1.8 billion acquisition of Volvo position the Chinese automaker as a premier global automaker?

17%  Yes -- The Geely purchase gives the company a respected brand, technology, the know-how, a global dealership network and its first foothold in the luxury car market.

34%  No -- Geely needs more than just an acquisition to gain the export experience, brand development and marketing know-how, product development strategy, management structure and more to be considered a premier global automaker.

49%  Maybe -- but too early to tell.
